Dr. Lia is a proud second generation dentist. She fell in love with dentistry while working by her dad’s side as a dental assistant during her college years.

She completed her bachelor’s degree at the other UT (University of Toledo) in Ohio. She went on to receive her Doctor of Dental Surgery from The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio through a scholarship with the United States Air Force. After graduating from dental school, she continued her training with an Advanced Education (AEGD) residency from Wright Patterson Air Force Base Medical Center. While serving four years in the Air Force, she was able to expand and refine her skills in procedures such as complex restorations, digital dentistry, root canals, third molar (wisdom tooth) extractions, and IV and oral conscious sedation.

Before moving to the Normangee area, Dr. Risk spent several years at a private practice in Temple, Texas where her office was frequently voted by residents as one of the best dental offices in the Temple/Belton area. She prides herself in providing quality, gentle care and considers her patients as she would her family.

Dr. Risk is a horrible gardener, and thinks she can cook. Fortunately her husband, Steve, makes up for all of her shortcomings, including height. She and Steve and their three children love to explore our beautiful country on weekend and day trips. By the age of 3, their youngest son had already visited 19 states, and he plans to take his parents with him on all of his future day trips.
